What a weird day…
I woke up at 4:00 am this morning to the sound of rain. Yes, it was raining loud enough to wake me up. I had my window open and noticed how cold it was, despite it being May. I didn’t think much of it and tried to fall back asleep. When I woke up to start the day, it was still raining – and it was freezing! I had planned to go to the market but with the rain, that was not possible. We went to the mall, just to waste some time. Lorelei, who is usually my well-behaved child, was terrible. She whined about everything, she hid from me in any store we went into, and she begged for things without relenting. It was crazy and annoying!
We drove back towards the gym and post office, and the mountains were covered in snow. Really covered – more snow there than I had seen in most of the winter here. It’s May! The day before, the temperature was around 80 degrees and sunny, but today it was cold with snow on the mountains? Crazy! I was tired and rundown all day, no matter how much coffee I drank or even after I worked out (I normally get a good burst of energy after going to the gym, but today I had nothing). That is so unusual too. Then Anya was grumpy and Addie, who has been on a good streak behavior wise, was terrible tonight, taking toys from her sisters, screaming about everything, and refusing to eat anything.
So this doesn’t sound like the brink of World War III happening here, but it was just an off day. I couldn’t help but think about one of our favorite tales and movies, Alice in Wonderland. It was a day where up is down, where right is left, where things are strange…so I thought I’d share my favorite quote from the Tim Burton version of the film:
I hope your day was a little more “normal” than ours. It was Wednesday, after all!
